The “digital Forum Romanum” was based on meticulous scholarly work and research. Just as the final 3D-reconstructions will be available online, we are also planning on making the scholarly groundwork accessible, for which we envisage an open wiki platform. This platform will have one entry for every building, which documents all the archaeological, epigraphical, literary, and pictorial sources, assesses them as well as the relevant scholarly discussions. Through the work on the “digital Forum Romanum” new research projects have also arisen. In order to make these results accessible to scholars as quickly as possible, we are planning on publishing an online research journal called “Berliner Studien zum antiken Rom” (BeStaR), which will be available on this page shortly. One can also find a general bibliography here as well as a compilation of links that direct one to other 3D-reconstructions and digital projects that are concerned with the analysis of the Forum Romanum.
